Hosanna to the King

Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a young donkey as the crowd welcomes Him with raised hands and palm branches. Men and women press in close along the road, honoring Him with the shout of Hosanna as He enters the city in humility rather than military power.

The scene portrays the Triumphal Entry, the Palm Sunday moment when Jesus is publicly received as the promised King. The donkey points to the Messiah’s peaceful reign, fulfilling the expectation that Zion’s King would come lowly and seated on a colt. The palms and outstretched hands express praise, expectation, and recognition that the One entering Jerusalem comes in the name of the Lord.
